Founder & CEO
Joel Alex serves as the CEO and founder of Urban Tech For Hope Ltd., where his dream of an Integrated Digital Healthcare Ecosystem that seamlessly connects Patients, Healthcare Service Providers, Pharmacies, and Delivery is a reality through the M-Kliniki digital platform.

Joel is revolutionizing healthcare access by integrating telemedicine with e-pharmacy and on-demand delivery services. M-Kliniki connects patients with qualified healthcare professionals through virtual consultations, providing timely access to medical advice without the need for travel. The platform also features an integrated e-pharmacy, allowing patients to order medications online and have them delivered directly to their homes via a reliable delivery service. Currently, M-Kliniki a product of Urban Tech For Hope Ltd., is in the process of onboarding delivery fleets.

He has served and volunteered at YALDA Africa, KMET, and NYARWEK, reflecting his dedication to Public Health and driving positive change in Africa.

Joel has been featured in prominent publications, including Parents Magazine Africa, BBC Global questions, Scarlet Magazine Kenya, and POSITIVESTORIES.ORG. He’s is an Earthshot Prize nominee 2025, a Ford Philanthropy Mobility Fellow 2025, the FESTAC; Women Summit Award 2024 winner. FOYA Awards nominee 2024, Eastern Africa Startup Awards 2024, Health-tech Startup of the Year award (Global Startup Awards 2024), and a Recoupling Award Nominee 2024. A Mandela Washington Fellowship (2022) alumnus, a Gender Equity in Entrepreneurship – Acumen (2021/2022) alumnus, a Digital Opportunity (2020/2021) alumnus, a YALI RLC EA (2019) alumnus, a Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship (2020) alumnus, and an ILDP (2021) alumnus. Participated in MIT COVID-19 Challenge – India (2020), mentored the Global Action Accelerator Challenge (2020) competitions courtesy of Enactus & One Young World, a Harvard National Model United Nations Semi-Finalist nominee in 2019, and a 120 under 40 Family Planning 2019 nominee.

He is a Fulbright Foreign Scholar, taking a Master’s in Public Health at the University of Illinois (UIC), holds a BA degree in International Relations and Diplomacy with IT from Maseno University (Kenya). And an Executive Education, MBA-style Business in Entrepreneurship from Northwestern University (Chicago), courtesy of the Mandela Washington Fellowship sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.

Monitoring and Evaluation
Faith Liz Mbiwa is an action oriented Monitoring and Evaluation Lead at M-Kliniki who is dedicated to driving change and creating impact in digital health. She has a degree in Sociology and over 5 years experience in Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, and community development.

Faith specializes in designing, implementing, and optimizing programs and M&E frameworks that are practical and impact-oriented. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Research and Public Policy. She brings in a unique blend of leadership, Community Development, Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, and in-depth knowledge in research and policy development.

Joel Olang is the Founder and CEO of Urban Tech For Hope Ltd., where he leads the creation of transformative telehealth products, including M Kliniki and Amandla Care. His vision is to harness technology to bridge healthcare gaps across Africa, ensuring equitable access for underserved communities.

Joel’s entrepreneurial journey is grounded in a strong academic and professional foundation. He is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) at the University of Illinois Chicago, complementing his BA in International Relations and Diplomacy with IT. He completed a Leadership in Business professional study course at Northwestern University, courtesy of the U.S. State Department, and undertook specialized training from Princeton University, focusing on making government work in hard places, policy, and data-driven decision-making. His exposure to innovation ecosystems includes engagements with MIT, like the Bio Farma X MIT Hacking Medicine, where he explored cutting-edge approaches to technology and public health access.

Recognized as a Mandela Washington Fellow, Fulbright awardee, and Earthshot Prize nominee, Mr. Olang has earned international acclaim for advancing scalable solutions in digital health, climate-smart innovation, and youth empowerment. His leadership spans interdisciplinary fields, combining public health expertise, digital transformation, and strategic communication.

Through Urban Tech For Hope Ltd., Joel is committed to building resilient systems that integrate equity, sustainability, and innovation. His work reflects a deep belief in the power of technology to transform healthcare delivery, empower communities, and inspire the next generation of African changemakers.

Marie Ndoe Mwamtigino

Marie Ndoe Mwamtigino

Cofounder
Marie Ndoe Mwamtigino, is one of the esteemed co-founders of Urban Tech For Hope. She is a dedicated philanthropist with a passion for improving the welfare of both young and older generations, with a special focus on Adolescent Girls and Young Women in Kenya.

Her tireless efforts in providing psychosocial support and her unwavering commitment as a Human Rights Defender truly set her apart.

Marie’s educational journey has given her skills in Business Administration from KCA College. Her belief in equal opportunity and accountability is at the core of her work. She firmly advocates for the integration of Science and Technology to enhance daily healthcare service access and information dissemination, especially at the grassroots level.

Marie is a collaborative spirit who understands the importance of sustainability. She is a seasoned expert in working with various organizations, from Civil Society to Government bodies, and like-minded organizations in both the Private and Public sectors. Her proficiency extends to areas such as Franchising, Prototyping, and Community Mapping.

Adaptable and highly skilled in communication and IT, Marie plays a pivotal role in Urban Tech For Hope’s administrative and management operations. With over a decade and a half of dedicated community service, both in Kenya (Kisumu and Mombasa) and Tanzania (Morogoro town), she brings warmth, people-centered counseling, and rehabilitation expertise to the forefront.

Austine Wanga

Austine Wanga

Cofounder
Austine Wanga is a dedicated co-founder of Urban Tech For Hope Ltd. As a Kenyan medical professional, Wanga brings extensive experience in innovation, HIV programming, clinical mentoring, and palliative care to the organization.

Throughout his career, Wanga has served as a service provider and HIV clinical mentor under the International Centre for Aids Care and Treatment Program. He has received specialized training in the clinical management of HIV, leadership, and management in health, global mental health, and basic addiction science.

Wanga’s expertise extends beyond clinical care, as he has been actively involved in prevention and gender-based violence (GBV) response activities, representing LVCT Health at the Kisumu County Gender Technical Working Group and coordinating LGBTIQ activities in the Western Region.

Currently, Wanga is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health Systems Management at Kenya Methodist University, further enhancing his knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of sustainable healthcare solutions. His dedication to improving the lives of those affected by HIV and other health issues, combined with his passion for technology and innovation, makes Austine Wanga an invaluable asset to Urban Tech For Hope Ltd., and the communities it serves.
